Exercise 2. – Multiple points

I was delighted to experiment with multiple points as I have been trying to create still life shots for self-entertaining as well as corporate reasons when I was shooting clothes and shoes and other Instagram-worthy images. That is why I decided to play with my essential accessories.

I decided to crop to square format following the Instagram vibe as well as I was shooting this on my DIY square bedside table directly above the subjects. I’m very fortunate to have large windows so it was easy to achieve beautiful even lighting with minimal shadows.

Since I have been practicing with these kind of arrangements for a while, I found this relatively quick to assemble, I used to played for a really long time to get a somewhat satisfying result. I started with creating lines, than adding items to create shapes but aim for placing things unevenly, or maybe only show a piece of it in the frame.

I started placing my watch and pearl earrings in lines, than on the 2nd picture I added two rings put closely together, by separating the earrings and placing them kind of “randomly”, I created two triangles, one with the earrings and the rings, and one with the watch included.

I added a necklace with the box, another pair of long earrings and my perfume to have more similar shapes in the composition and just tried different angles with every single item. The result was the 3rd and 4th image, I was almost satisfied with the latter but it felt a bit “carefully arranged” so I added an empty copper terrarium for more angular shapes but I deliberately left most of it out of the frame not to overpower the 5th image. It didn’t feel right so I swapped it for some flowers, also adjusted the other elements until I settled with the final 6th photograph.
